It has been nearly month since the release of Apollo Mighty’s third installment of his trilogy Project 3-6-9 simply called IX. With time enough to really listen fully and inspect the album, we have come to the conclusion that this is Apollo’s best work as of yet. The intro to the project builds very nicely and set the appropriate mood for the album. I guess it is fair to classify Apollo as a contemporary RnB artist, but his music stretches further – clashing the borders of Neo-Soul and Rock & Roll as an indie artist. The best song classified by vocal performance, delivery, message and production has to be “Last Song”. The message Apollo delivers is justification enough. However, if you are not satisfied from that alone, listen to the slowly sweeping vocals on the hook and the relaxed percussion that blends perfectly with the simple melodies produced by fellow Memphian YoJi. Overall, this was a great effort from Apollo and should give him enough of a push to catapult his career.
