Top 15 of 2013: #15 | Casey Veggies – Life Changes

I want to get these started with this surprisingly exquisite release from none other than the Inglewood, California native himself, Mr. Casey Veggies. Once an original founding member (along with Tyler, The Creator) of the highly acclaimed and infamous hip hop collective OFWGKTA, Veggies broke from the group after the release of their first tape back in 2008 and continued on with his own solo efforts, including a total of six tapes before releasing Life Changes back in January. The tape presents Veggies introspective tales about his rise to success, perspectives and retrospectives on life, and questions of the future. The production of the tape is excellent, to say the least, and features some of the hottest in the game currently including Harry Fraud, who has also produced for Queens rapper Action Bronson, and The Futuristiks. I chose this tape for my top 15 of 2013 because it is fresh sounding and offers a new taste in creativity for the hip hop industry at the moment. It can definitely be said that we hope to look forward to more features in the future with Dom Kennedy and possibly members of the SaveMoney crew. As for right now however, Veggies released a joint tape with MMG artist Rockie Fresh yesterday titled Fresh Veggies and is currently in the studio working on his solo debut which is said to be released at the end of this year or early 2014; either way, we’ll be on the look out!
